Safety Analysis and Licensing Laboratory

General Information and Activity Areas

The Safety Analysis and Licensing Laboratory was established in 1999 as a CRCD division. Main activity areas include:

  • Thermal hydraulic analysis of NPP steady-state operation and transients
  • Development of licensing documents (NPP safety analysis reports, responses to comments by the State Expert Review)
  • Upgrade of computer thermal hydraulic codes

Interfaces with Other Entities

Within the framework of NFC STE the Safety Analysis and Licensing Laboratory closely interfaces with the Nuclear Fuel Design and Reactor Core Design Laboratories. The Safety Analysis and Licensing Laboratory also cooperates with both national entities, such as NNEGC Energoatom, ZNPP, SUNPP, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, SSTC NRS, and foreign companies, such as the IAEA, PNNL, and Westinghouse.

The staff of the Safety Analysis and Licensing Laboratory provides instruction on “NPP Safety” at the Steam Generator Building Department of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute and academic supervision for Master's projects.
